Biographical / Historical NotesTras deponer al joven e inexperto monarca Tulga (640-642), el ya anciano Chindasvinto tomó las riendas del reino visigodo el año 642, gobernando con mano dura hasta su muerte en el 653. Las fuentes destacan de este monarca su excesivo autoritarismo, las purgas que llevó a cabo entre la nobleza goda para evitar posibles sublevaciones y su gran longevidad (contaba aproximadamente ochenta años cuando accedió al trono).

"Chindasuinth(Also spelled Chindaswinth, Chindaswind, Chindasuinto, Chindasvindo, or Khindaswinth; Latin: Chintasvintus, Cindasvintus; Gothic: Kinþaswinþs; c. 563 - 30 September 653 AD) was Visigothic King of Hispania, from 642 until his death. He succeeded Tulga, from whom he usurped the throne in a coup; he was elected by the nobles and anointed by the bishops 30 April 642."
