The entire Larramendi family in Valdez, Alaska, in 1993, where polar explorer Ramon Hernando de Larramendi, ninth son of Lourdes and Ignacio, with a wool cap on the photo, finished the Circumpolar Expedition, the longest non-mechanized polar journey in History. The expedition began in Greenland in 1990 using only traditional Inuit means of transport: dog sledding and kayak, without GPS or satellite phones.
