Se le atribuyen al menos dos obras: Aphorismi Magni Momenti de Medicina Practica y al-Kunnash, en la que intentó reunir las opiniones médicas del mundo griego y del árabe. Esta obra, que recibió muy diversos nombres al ser traducida al latín (Pandectae, Aggregator, Breviarium, Practica, y Therapeutica Methodus), fue dividida en Compendio mayor (al-Kunash al-kabir) y Compendio menor (al-kunnash al-saghir), siendo este último traducido al latín a partir de la versión hebrea por Gerardo da Cremona bajo el título Practica Joannis Serapionis aliter breviarium nuncupata.
