Biographical / Historical NotesThomas Matthias‎‎ Götze. Nacido en Leipzig en 1623, muy joven fue enviado a Frankfurt debido a la guerra donde finalmente se estableció como vendedor de libros.
Leipzig fue ocupada por los suecos por lo que Frankfurt se convirtió en la ciudad lider del mercado del libro alemán. Consiguió proliferar en este sector añadiendo a su propio negocio el heredado de su madre y acabó abriendo sucursales en ciudades como Basilea, Amsterdam y Jena.
Se convirtió en un gran hombre de negocios y en el librero más rico de su tiempo.
